Facebook Faces Data-Breach Scandal

Facebook, an American Multinational Social Media company, has recently been entangled in a data-breach scandal. This follows allegations that, Cambridge Analytica, a data analytical firm, illegally extracted over 50 million Facebook profiles to influence the outcome of US presidential elections.

The data obtained by Aleksandr Kogan, a psychology professor at Cambridge University, was handed to Cambridge Analytica thus violating Facebook’s terms of service.

Cambridge Analytica, however, denied the data-breach and sparked debate over Facebook’s inability to protect user privacy.
