The two tech giants, Apple and Samsung, have finally settled the long running case over patent rights on iPhone products. The ongoing case since 2011, has seen Samsung being accused of copying the product, iPhone. The US District judge over the case, Lucy Koh, said in the court filing recently that she has been informed by both parties of their decision to reach a settlement.
In 2011, the case was won by Apple, and Samsung was then slapped with a fine worth $1 billion. The legal battle continued over the years as there were a number of appeals made to the Supreme Court. The long legal battle was initially hovering around patent rights until it became about Samsung copying to gain a competitive edge.
Seven years later, the patent battle has come to an end with the tech giants declining to make public, the terms of their settlement.
