US Elections Vulnerable To Cyber Attack

Rootz Asylum, a technology institution that teaches kids the methods of hacking for good, recently organized a competition among minors to hack into a replica of  US elections website. The non-profit institution aims to send out cautions about the vulnerability of the voting systems that will be used for US’ midterm elections this November.

The founder of Rootz Asylum, Nico Sell, elaborated on how 35 minors out of the 39 contestants were successful in making it past the trivial security. The websites hacked were only a replica of the real ones as hacking a real website was illegal.

To help solve the vulnerability of the US election website, the Department of Homeland SecurityUS public institution for providing security will provide support. A number of cyber security companies including Synack, Cloudflare and Akamai are offering free services to enhance cyber crime free US midterm elections this year.
