Apple Makes Privacy Policy a Requirement For Apps in Its App store

Apple, a multinational tech giant, is updating rules in its app store to include a privacy policy requirement for all new apps. Previously, only apps that were on subscription were required to have a link to their privacy policy.

Although Apple did not state that this rule would apply to existing apps, the tech giant emphasized the need for all future apps to have links to the privacy policies. The content of privacy policies should include what data apps gathers, how is gathered and why. Additionally, the option of allowing users to choose whether or not their personal data should be used or deleted must be included in the privacy policies.

Apple‘s new rules are expected to take effect on the 3rd of October 2018. All existing apps without links to their privacy policy after the stipulated date will not be removed from the app store. However, such apps are also required to add privacy policy links immediately.
