Facebook, the multinational tech company, recently announced African representatives for the Community Leadership Programme. The representatives from Africa were twelve. However, five people were selected globally as leaders for each continent residence with Kenya’s Noah Nasiali being the resident African leader.
The Community Leadership Programme is meant to empower community leaders globally with funds, tools and support needed to carry out their community development projects. Each resident is expected to be awarded up to $1,000,000. However, the winning amount will be based on the submission of the final budget proposal by each resident.
Facebook announced the programme in February and received over 6,000 applications. The review of applications was done by community experts who have no relationship with the staff of Facebook.
