Smart, Portable Printer
PrintBrush XDR is wireless and works with your smartphone through the PrintBrush XDR app. After choosing a selection on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop, you push a print button on the app to initiate the printing process.
The mobile printer is Wi-Fi-enabled but can work as an untethered, standalone device once images are uploaded into the device. There is also a USB interface for uploading or backing up data to other more secure storage drives.
How it works
To print on any surface, all you have to do is swipe the mobile printer over the print surface from left to right or right to left. The PrintBrush XDR produces accurate results regardless of how slow or fast you move your hand. An optical sensor built into the mobile printer tracks the velocity of your hand as it moves in order to reproduce the exact imagery on the print surface surface. PrintBrush XDR prints on any device of any thickness level.
The mobile printer fits right into the palm of your hand, and comes in two colours: black and white.
Better than the rest
One advantage PrintBrush XDR has over bulky printers is that despite its size, it is able to produce larger printouts. This is due to the device’s trademarked RMPT technology which puts mobile technology into smartphones. “Using advanced software instead of hardware, RMPT opens the way for miniaturization, mechanical simplicity and a lack of electrical motors,” it reads on PrintBrush XDR’s Kickstarter page.
Coming with a mere 74 part count as against the 823 parts used to build a desktop inkjet printer, the PrintBrush XDR weighs 260 grams net and has a shipping weight of 448 grams. 55 units of PrintBrush XDR would fit into a normal inkjet printer.
The mobile printer is eco-friendly as well, leaving merely 2.2% carbon footprint and consuming only 2 watts of energy. Add to that the thousands in tonnes of steel and plastic that is saved, and the PrintBrush XDR is the future of a mobile generation.
Because of its size, PrintBrush XDR can not yet produce letter-sized prints, something the inventors are hoping to create soon. Nonetheless, the PrintBrush XDr is capable of printing up to three swaths with slight gaps in between the swaths. While it’s perfect for printing texts and graphics in full colour, it is not yet suitable for printing photos.
