Apple Criticized for Moving iCloud Data to China

Apple‘s decision to transfer their users with iCloud accounts registered in China to Guizhou-Cloud Big Data (GCBD) along with its encryption keys has gotten privacy campaigners very worried. This move comes after Apple partnered with  Guizhou-Cloud Big Data (GCBD), the Chinese local firm.

Amnesty International, insists China’s inhibited legal environment makes it almost impossible for Apple to maintain its users’ privacy and security.

Apple emphasizes that, users can delete their iCloud account if they are not in agreement with their data being stored by Guizhou-Cloud Big Data (GCBD). Nonetheless, Apple claims most iCloud users in China are still using the service.
