Apple Removes Illicit Lottery Apps

Apple, an American multinational company has just informed users about their removal of many illicit lottery apps on play store in China. This follows numerous criticisms against the tech company and the state media’s rigorous regulations.

The smartphone manufacturer is believed to have removed about 25,000 apps in a bid to comply with local regulations in China. Although Apple did not confirm the exact number of apps removed in a statement, it emphasized efforts at curbing gambling activities on its app store.

The American tech company in the first quarter faced many criticisms over its decision to move iCloud accounts in China. The move followed its partnership with Guizhou-Cloud Big Data (GCBD), a Chinese local firm, and the need to comply with new legal regulations.
