Facebook Accused of Gender Discrimination

Facebook has been slammed by the public for being biased towards females in job advertisements. In their job advertisements, most of the roles suggested they were for male counterparts only.

The American Civil Liberties Union ( ACLU), an NGO that defends the rights of people living in the US, made a complaint to the US Legal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The American Civil Liberties Union accused Facebook of gender discrimination after their discovery of Facebook’s advertising system aimed to give employers the option to target their ads to gender-specific individuals.

Facebook said they had analysed the complaint made by the American Civil Liberties Union and would defend their practices in due time.
