Facebook Removes Over 800 Pages Ahead of Midterm Elections

Facebook, has removed more than 800 pages on its platform ahead of the US midterm elections. The removal comes as a result of Facebook‘s discovery of page owners inappropriate behaviour and disregard for spam rules.

The removal of the pages has seen Facebook coming under attack by some owners of the page. A page like Right Wing News has threatened to take legal action should Facebook fail to restore their page. The manager of Right Wing News, Brian Kolfage, said they were not spamming nor using fake accounts except for supporting President Trump.

Having over 2 billion users worldwide, Facebook is being encouraged by lawmakers to protect the integrity of US midterm elections.
