Google Now Transparent About its Use of Users Data Ahead of GDPR

Ahead of the commencement of European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to take effect on 25th May, Google joined other Tech Companies to update its privacy policies.  In a post on its privacy page, Google detailed efforts they are making to comply with GDPR. The updated privacy policy is set to be emailed to all users.

The compliance efforts in updating its privacy policies include;

  • Updating User Transparency: Thus making it easier for users to know exactly why and what their data is used for through texts, explanatory videos and illustrations. And for easier navigation and search around the web.
  • Improved User Controls:  This update improves the controls and clarity of information in My Account dashboard.
  • Improved Data portability : Making it easier to download and move user data between networks.
