Instagram, a subsidiary of Facebook, has confirmed that its users can verify the genuineness accounts if they are suspicious. The photo-sharing app said the new feature, “About This Account”, will enable users to view the origin of an account, username changes, and the ads the account runs.
Instagram co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Mike Kreiger, said that it was an important task to ward off people with bad intentions of their platform. He added that Instagram will enable third-party apps like Duo Mobile and Google Authenticator to assist in double authentication of accounts.
Instagram‘s update follows Facebook‘s recently updated feature that makes it difficult for page owners and managers to create additional pages with fake accounts.
