McAfee Cautions Sports Fans Of Malicious Apps

McAfee, an American cyber security company, recently published a statement cautioning sports fans of malicious apps. Malicious apps and phishing emails were found to have been created by cyber attackers specifically targeting football fans.

In the just ended world cup tournament, it was discovered that many fans had resorted to using the “Golden Cup” app to stay informed about past and future matches of their favorite teams. Unknown to fans, the “Golden Cup” app had been infected with spyware by cyber criminals. Installed spyware in the background of the app, transferred private information to cyber criminals.

McAfee, informed users that the “Golden Cup” had been cleared from Google Play Store. However, they believe that, malicious hackers would increase their activities around major sports activities in the future.
