Microsoft Co-Founder Dies at Age 65

Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, passed away on Monday evening at age 65. Paul Allen had been battling Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, a type blood cancer, for years until he was treated in 2009. The disease was said to have returned two weeks ago with complications.

Microsoft’s co-founder Bill Gates in a public post, said he was deeply affected by the passing of one of his oldest friends. Paul’s sister Jody described her brother as a remarkable person in every aspect of his life.

Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft with his school friend Bill Gates in 1975. Paul Allen left Microsoft in 1983 after his cancer  diagnosis. Upon his recovery, he set up Vulcan, a technology, media and communications investment firm in 1986 which became a huge success. In 2010, he pledged his wealth to charitable courses in the event of his death.
