Tech Giants Risk Being Fined Over Extremist Posts

Facebook, Google and Twitter are likely to be fined by the European Union if they are unable to remove extremist post in an hour. The statement was made by European Commission’s president Jean-Claude Juncker, to the European Parliament at the annual State of the Congress event. Jean-Claude added further that an hour was more than enough for a post to cause damage.

The 63-year old’s proposal is expected to be backed by European countries and Europe’s Parliament. Other internet platforms are expected to take extreme measures to combat abusive content on their platforms. Content owners will have the right to question any removal order.
