Twitter Deletes Millions of Fake Accounts

Twitter, a social media platform, has been deleting many fake accounts since the beginning of May. The deletion had been going in order to rid the platform of numerous bots. About 70 million suspicious accounts have since been deleted.

Previously, Twitter, was not bothered by the bots and did not anticipate them abusing the platform. This was until the bots became a nuisance after Brexit. Their seriousness to effectively rid the platform of these liabilities led them to acquire Smyte, a Tech company focused on solving spam, fraud and abuse issues.

Twitter‘s spokesperson in a post, informed users that the exercise would improve conversations on Twitter.
