Lab researchers from Kaspersky, a Russian multinational cybersecurity company, have found vulnerabilities on some popular smart cameras that grant hackers remote access to videos and audio feeds.
The research conducted on smart cameras used for home and office surveillance, allows hackers to remotely disable the cameras and use them as an entry point for malicious code infections.
Kaspersky researchers have therefore advised users to use complex passwords and change them frequently. Users should also pay close attention to security issues when purchasing smart devices.
